In another wiki the basic German 3550 Piratenschiff versions (v1, v2) and variations (a, b, c, d) were described – http://www.klickypedia.com/wiki/3550-piratenschiff-german-versions-and-varitions/But there are a lot of International versions. These are all related to one of the German versions: v1 (crew members have fixed hands colored as their torsos; / the crane in the box’s front lifts a yellow trunk) and v2 (crew members have skin colored rotating hands / the trunk being lifted becomes a brown one). Begining in Spain, we have the FAMOBIL 3550.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/3550-fam-pirate-ship/Similar to the german v1 version (crew members have fixed hands colored as their torsos; / the crane in the box’s front lifts a yellow trunk) It is easy to identify:– the word Famobil in the box’s front replaces Playmobil;– in here the words “5 CLICK” are added (inside a red jagged balloon) and also the word “CONTENIDO”.– there is no set number in the front;– the skull and bones flag in the ship’s front mast is black instead of red; Also in Spain there are 2 variations of locally made PLAYMOBIL 3550, similar to the German v1 (crew members have fixed hands colored as their torsos; / the crane in the box’s front lifts a yellow trunk). They are also, both of them, easy to identify – the skull and bones flag in the ship’s front mast is black instead of red.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/3550-esp-pirate-ship/ The variation a:– has a solid white set number 3550 in the box’s front (bottom left).– has the word “CONTENIDO” (top left) The variation b:– also has a solid white set number 3550 in the box’s front (bottom left).– has the words “Contenido”, “Conteúdo”, “Inhalt” and “Contents right next to it. Across the Mediterranean there is a Grek LYRA 3550.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/3550-lyr-pirate-ship/It uses one of the variations (b) of the german v1 version (crew members have fixed hands colored as their torsos; / the crane in the box’s front lifts a yellow trunk). It can be identified by:– the word “LYRA” in the box’s front cover;– a wider blue frame around the box’s front cover. Across the Atlantic we have an Argentinian ANTEX 3550 version.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/3550-ant-pirate-ship/It is probably similar to Germany’s v2 version (crew members have skin colored rotating hands / the trunk being lifted becomes a brown one).Images of the box are not known (only of the catalogue and instrucions). There is also a Brazilian TROL version, the 23.55.0.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/23-55-0-trol-pirate-ship/Again it is similar to the German v1 version (crew members have fixed hands colored as their torsos; / the crane in the box’s front lifts a yellow trunk). The best way to identify it is to see:– the “TROL” logo in the box’s cover (bottom left). a Mexican AURIMAT version, the 13550.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/13550-aur-pirate-ship/It is probably similar to Germany’s v2 version (crew members have skin colored rotating hands / the trunk being lifted becomes a brown one).Images of the box are not known (only of the catalogue and instrucions). In 1989 there is also the probability of the set number becoming 23550. and another Mexican version, MATTEL 13333 Barco Pirata. http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/13333-xat-pirate-ship/. similar to the german 3550 v2 version (crew members have skin colored rotating hands / the trunk being lifted becomes a brown one). North America, the oldest version is SCHAPER’s 0104 Super Deluxe Pirate Ship Set.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/0104-sch-super-deluxe-pirate-ship/Similar to the german v1 version (crew members have fixed hands colored as their torsos; / the crane in the box’s front lifts a yellow trunk).Easy to identify:– the words “Schaper a Play Set” are included in the box’s front near Playmobil Logo;– also “GUARANTEED FUN..” inside a yellow jagged balloon;– and also the set number (top right) and the mention “Super Deluxe Pirate Ship Set” (bottom left). There are probably some variations of this set: Sold by JC Penney, set number 923-7926.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/923-7926-sch-pirate-ship-set/ Sold by Sears, set number 49-59993.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/49-59993-sch-pirate-ship/ And also a possible older version, yet to be confirmed, with a different design, similar to the other Schaper sets that were made back then.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/0104-sch-super-deluxe-set-pirate-series/ Finally, North American Playmobil produced its own version – the 3050 Pirate Ship.http://www.klickypedia.com/sets/3050-usa-pirate-ship/.It is similar to Germany’s v2 version (crew members have skin colored rotating hands / the trunk being lifted becomes a brown one).It has 2 variations: The variation a:– has an outline set number in its box. The variation b:– a solid black set t number in its box. Is this all there is?Maybe yes maybe no.Some of these versions or variations were only confirmed very recently and from some of them there is a lot of information missing. But others can appear.

The variation b:
– a solid black set t number in its box.

Is this all there is?
Maybe yes maybe no.
Some of these versions or variations were only confirmed very recently and from some of them there is a lot of information missing.
But others can appear.

There are quite a few versions of playmobil’s first Pirate Ship, the 3550.There are several German versions and also a lot of International versions. Trying to concentrate in the German sets we can consider 2 basic versions: V1, 1978-1983/84– crew members have fixed hands colored as their torsos;– the crane in the box’s front lifts a yellow trunk;– playmobil official “produktarchiv” names it 3550-A in 1978; V2, 1984/85-1988/89– crew members have skin colored (light pink and brown) rotating hands,– the trunk being lifted becomes a brown one.– playmobil official “produktarchiv” names it 3550-B in 1984; Of these 2 versions there are a lot of box variations containing a number of details that help to sort them all. V1-a:– “horizontal” front with boat facing left;– box made of styrofoam;– no mention of the set number in the front;– “playmobil” logo with a round dot in the “i” in the front;– “b” brandstatter logo and “system” word added below “playmobil” in the front;– “5 klicky” is mentioned in the top left side of the front;– picture of the contents in the back;– picture of a boy with the boat in the back;– black and white intructions leaflet;– collector 3 book names it v1 and gives it a 1978-1982/83 timeframe (p. 56) V1-b– “horizontal” front with boat facing left;– inside box made of cardboard with a narrow frame;– no mention of the set number in the front;– “playmobil” logo with a round dot in the “i”;– “b” brandstatter logo and “system” word added below “playmobil” in the front;– boat shows 16 crew members in the front and a seashore camp;– small picture of the boat and small picture of its crew (5 figures) on the top left corner of the front;– picture of the contents in the back;– picture of a boy with his grandfather and 2 boats with stripe-painted sails the boat in the back;– 4 close-up pictures of the boat with a handpainted crew, sails and hull;– black and white intructions leaflet;– collector 3 book includes this variation but it doesn’t give it a number or timeframe (p. 552) V1-c– “horizontal” front with boat facing left;– inside box made of cardboard with a narrow frame;– no mention of the set number in the front;– “playmobil” logo with a trapezoid dot in the “i”;– small picture of the crew (5 figures) on the top left corner of the front;– picture of the contents in the back;– picture of a boy with his grandfather and 2 boats with stripe-painted sails the boat in the back;– 4 close-up pictures of the boat with a handpainted crew, sails and hull;– black and white intructions leaflet;– collector 3 book names this variation v2 and gives it a 1982/83-1984/89 timeframe (p. 84) V1-d– “vertical” box with boat facing the right;– no mention of the set number in the front;– “playmobil” logo with a trapezoid dot in the “i”;– picture of the contents in the back;– picture of a boy with his grandfather and 2 boats with stripe-painted sails the boat in the back;– 4 close-up pictures of the boat with a handpainted crew, sails and hull;– no mention of this variation on collector 3 book; V2-a– “horizontal” front with boat facing right;– inside box made of cardboard with a large frame;– outline set number included in the lower left corner of the front;– word “inhalt” and 4 translations included in the lower left corner of the front;– “playmobil” logo with a trapezoid dot in the “i”;– picture of the contents in the back;– picture of a boy with his grandfather and 2 boats with stripe-painted sails the boat in the back;– 4 close-up pictures of the boat with a handpainted crew, sails and hull;– colored instructions leaflet;– collector 3 book names this variation v3 and gives it a 1984/85-1988/89 timeframe (p. 98). V2-b– “horizontal” front with boat facing right;– inside box made of cardboard with a large frame;– black set number included in the lower left corner of the front;– “playmobil” logo with a trapezoid dot in the “i”;– collector 3 book names this variation v4 and gives it a 1988/89-1990/91 timeframe (p. 120). V2-c– the same as V2-a but with no set number;– word “inhalt” and 5 translations included in the lower left corner of the front; V2-d– the same as V2-a but with no set number and no “inhalt” word and its translations included. This set coincides with a period of great growth for Playmobil. This success maybe explains why there are so many variations of the its 2 versions.Even in other countries – Spain, Greece, U.S.A. – there are a lot of versions and variations. This listing can be far from complete – some of these variations are attributed to exclusive regional markets (Netherlands) or srore chains.Even if the number of versions is not likely to change, at any time a new variation can show up. note: thank you playmorache (from Klickywelt) for so many informations and images
